How will I benefit from Gentle Years Yoga©?

The key benefits of a seated yoga programme, like Gentle Years Yoga© [GYY] are to:

  • encourage fluid breathing and postural alignment;
  • improve fine motor skills;
  • strengthen your muscles;
  • increase your flexibility, balance and mobility, and reduce pain;
  • improve mental, social and emotional well-being;
  • promote independence.

Seated, sit-to-stand and/or gentle mat-based yoga are all safe and effective ways to increase your physical activity to the recommended levels for adults and older adults.

GYY is an inclusive movement practice for adults and older adults with a wide range of health conditions.

As a British Wheel of Yoga [BWY] Gentle Years Yoga© teacher, I offer different modifications to suit you and your body. I was particularly touched to receive this recent heartwarming evaluative feedback from two of my GYY students at Crawley:

You will always receive the warmest of welcomes at my inclusive, friendly classes. I will meet you where your body is at any given time and do my best to help you feel better in yourself, become stronger, and move more easily. Absolute yoga beginners are always welcome.

A GYY yoga class typically includes:

  • working with the breath,
  • warm ups including gentle pulse raisers,
  • co-ordination and concentration activities,
  • balance improvement exercises,
  • resistance work for muscle strengthening,
  • modified yoga postures,
  • relaxation.

GYY is ideal for you if you have difficulty getting up and down from the floor and/or would feel more comfortable practising yoga from a chair. This allows everyone to participate safely at their own level and enjoy their yoga.

Book two private one-to-one or one-to-two classes and get your free third class completely free!

This is for you if would like to benefit from private yoga designed around you, your body and your desired outcomes. Your three classes need to be of the same length, either 45 minutes online or 75 minutes and taken within six weeks of the first booked session. Online sessions may be recorded, if you wish, for you to practice again later the same week too.
